In 2002, British furniture designer Dr David Wickett set out to create a chair that would deliver true weightlessness.

In this pursuit, he carried out 10 years of research in biomedical engineering, becoming one of the few designers to make the transition to science.

From his research, he developed a mathematical model defining posture under gravitational force. That model became the patented Floatation technology, a ‘pure mechanism’ that delivers true weightless experiences.

The first embodiment of Floatation is the extraordinary Elysium chair which was launched in 2016.
